Interview Prep Should Start From the Application You Actually Sent
Prep from the CV you actually sent — not a generic template from memory.
The mistake
Candidates prepare for interviews from memory — or from a generic CV — while the employer has the tailored version from the application. You claim a metric in the room that is not on the PDF they printed. Or you forget which project you emphasized for this specific role.
AI makes tailoring cheap. That increases the risk of version drift unless your prep is tied to what you submitted.
What to keep per application
For every role worth interviewing for, store:
- The listing URL or text snapshot
- The CV version sent
- The cover letter or note sent
- Three stories that support your strongest bullets
- Questions you want to ask them
If those live in five places (email, Drive, Notion, notes app, memory), prep takes longer and mistakes creep in.
A simple prep flow
1. Re-read the listing — what did they repeat twice? That is likely the interview focus 2. Re-read your submitted CV — every bullet should have a 60-second story 3. Map likely questions — technical, behavioral, motivation, salary 4. Prepare two questions for them — team, success at 90 days, stack reality 5. Log outcome — pass, wait, reject — for your own learning
Where AI helps (without replacing you)
AI can draft question lists from the listing, suggest STAR story angles from bullets you approve, and summarize company context. It should not invent achievements for the interview room.
Lemu Work keeps interview prep on the same application record as verify and tailor, so you are not searching your inbox the night before.
When generic prep tools fall short
Generic interview coaches do not know which CV the employer has. Trackers without document history force you to reconstruct context. The fix is not more AI output — it is linking prep to the application artifact.
Try it
Before your next interview, open the exact materials you sent. If you cannot find them in under a minute, fix your workflow before the next application round.
Open Lemu Work and run one role through verify → tailor → track — then use that record for prep.
